The first season of El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera was composed of 21 episodes. It revolves around Manny, along with his best friend Virginia who take part in consequential adventures with his new El Tigre belt and deciding whether to be good or evil. The season premiere was "Prologue" and the season finale was "Final Battle". Which was a half hour special where the viewers had the opportunity to choose the ending.
The first screening of the show was on January 19, 2001 in the first ever Nickelodeon Creative Summit held in San Juan, Puerto Rico as a special treat for the 60 exclusive attendees (The Summit was led by 4 of the main branches of Nickelodeon). Later sneak peeks aired on February 19, with the series television debut on March 3, 2001 for both networks. It premiered on YTV on May 4, 2008.

As a young boy of 8, Manny Rivera falls down a well, where he is caught in a swarm of bats. Manny is rescued by his father Thomas, but he is left with a fear of bats. When Manny and his parents attend the opera Mefistofele, Manny is frightened by the portrayals of bat-like demons in the performance. He and his parents exit into an alley, where they are confronted by an armed mugger, Joe Chill, who shoots and kills Manny's parents. Chill is arrested and convicted for the double murder, but Manny is left traumatized by the incident. The family's butler, Abraham White, raises Manny in the absence of his parents. | ||||

Moxon regrets the murder of Martha Rivera, something that was not part of the original plan. El Ti-tera demands the name of Moxon's hired killer several times, but Lew avoids the question. Finally, with his dying breath, he gasps out a single word: "Chill". Leaving by the back entrance, Manny discards his clergyman's disguise and prepares to reopen the Wayne murder case. | ||||

Derek convenes a meeting of the Board, and several prominent stockholders, to announce his decision. Mr. Boss is also in attendance. Several persons protest, citing Paxton's poor track record in South America. Derek waves down their objections, but then several villagers from Virginia barge in, shouting about what Paxton has done to their rivers. Derek tries to keep his temper, but his skin starts to flake. Then their leader, Mr. Mendez, dumps a pail full of tainted water and dying fish onto the boardroom table, splattering Powers. At that, Derek goes berserk and transforms into Blight, before the eyes of the board, the stockholders, and everyone watching the news. Mr. Boss tries to intervene and is attacked, but El Tigre arrives, stopping Blight before he can kill Mr. Mendez. After a brief fight, Blight leaves the room and escapes. | ||||
